Zou Bisou Bisou
I did it.
I took the plunge. I dared to be bold, to reinvent myself… slightly. I dared take a leap I’d been afraid to explore for so long.
I bought red lip color, and I wore it. In public. Twice.
In my teeny-weeny micro universe, this is kind of huge. Since I recently became a parent, I’ve been making a career out of wearing yoga pants and hoodies. It’s not quite fashionable. Given the amount of baby drool and spit-up in my life these days, I often opt for comfort over style when à la maison. Nothing flashy.
Yet, sometimes I want a little more. I don’t want to always feel like a walking potato sack. Especially nowadays, where it’s easy to get sucked into that vortex of doing everything for everyone else but myself. I often neglect those minuscule gestures of self-care that make me feel good. We owe it to ourselves to invest in and prioritize our well-beings too, to keep life fun and exciting.
Buying some red lip color seemed like a perfectly logical way to treat myself. No regrets!
Lip lovers, take note: Nars Powermatte Lip Pigment is everything you’ll ever want in a lip color. Long lasting. Light. Most importantly, being a matte, it did not dry my lips like other matte lip colors. The pigment is rich and intense. However, I was able to remove it with a few swipes of a cleansing cloth easily. I opted for the ‘Under My Thumb’ shade, which is a deep burgundy that looks great against my translucent… err… fair… skin tone. Also, my usual thinned pucker was quite voluptuous. Impec!
I had a fun time practicing my best smoochy face for this post, as you can see. When you feel great about yourself, and the lighting is perfect, just run with it.
I love Nars, and not because of its French origins or because I pretend that I’m Vanessa Paradis when I wear it. Well, that helps. This color really brings renewed life to my pout. On those big nights out, I feel sassier.
Now, how many bisous can it withstand? I guess I’ll just have to continue the research!
À la prochaine!
